Looking for more? First Baptist Church in Newton kicked off monthly Kaleidoscope Community Gatherings in June 2017 and they were a big hit. And now, our Fall 2018 Schedule is out. Come and see!

These gatherings are designed to get us together outside of Sunday morning services and help us build relationships, strengthen our community, and have fun! We choose something fun to do from our "kaleidoscope" of opportunities. We might share a meal, watch a movie, go to a play, concert, or a sports event, grab a drink, play a game...the possibilities are endless! Big idea: you don't want to miss this. So if you're single or you're married with kids, if you're in college or if you're in retirement, no matter who you are or where you are on your journey, you're welcome to our Kaleidoscope Community Gatherings.

Kaleidoscope Community Gatherings Fall 2018 Schedule

Blue Ribbon Sunday
Sunday, September 16, 2018 @ 10:00 AM
Welcome Fall. On Sunday, September 16, we will launch into another school year with Blue Ribbon BBQ and the Blessing of Backpacks. Children of all ages are invited to bring their backpacks and receive a blessing for the new year from Senior Minister Sean Witty. A collection will be taken to benefit school-aged children on school lunch programs who need help with meals on weekends. It will be a special day to be out on the lawn.

Open (& Affirming) Mic Night
Sunday, September 23, 2018 @ 06:00 PM
A space for people across age range and ability to come and celebrate a gift they have or want to explore. We will affirm and celebrate all ages and abilities. 10 people. 4-5 minutes each. The event will take place in our beautiful chapel space. We will have two artists/collectives displaying their work on each open mic night and possibly speaking as one of the ten. Interested in signing up or displaying your art? See here for more information.

Apple Picking
Saturday, October 6, 2018  @ 10:00 AM
Meet at Lookout Farms in Natick for a day of apple picking and fun activities for all ages. The church will cover everyone's entrance fees. Families and individuals pay for specific activities.

Bouncy House at Newton Harvest Fair
Sunday, October 14 @ 11:00 AM
The City of Newton puts out a great set of stalls, food, and activities right in the heart of Newton Centre, just across our lawn. We will be doing our part by having a big bouncy house on our own lawn. It will go up soon after our worship service that begins at 10:00 AM. What's a fair without a bouncy house?

Opioids and Our Community
Thursday, October 25 @ 06:30 PM
Join us in this important public panel discussion with experts and breakout sessions.
