Some of those in our church community are getting together to explore their thoughts and questions about the meaning of the cross. You are invited to join them for three evening conversations on this subject, so central to Christian faith and so difficult to understand within our hearts or to explain to others.
The group will be using Mark Heim's book Saved from Sacrifice and some short articles as resources for the discussion, but you don't need to read these to join. The first gathering with be at the Heim's in Newton Center on Monday, April 11th. There will also be meetings the evenings of April 25th and May 9th in other members' homes.
Again, reading the book is not needed to participate, but if you'd like a copy please let David Barbrow (firstname.lastname@example.org) know and he'll order one for you. They are $24 apiece.
To prepare and get excited for the conversation, here are two articles Mark Heim wrote on the topic for The Christian Century: Christ Crucified, Visible Victim
