Sunday School Throughout the Year

We have Sunday school for all age levels before the worship service from 9:30 - 10:15. This is a time when people gather together to develop a better understanding of scripture, to grow in their faith, and to prepare their hearts and minds for worship.

We also have a nursery for infants and toddlers during Sunday school and worship.

Children and Youth Education

During the school year, the Pre-K through high school students work with the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum which follows the lectionary of the worship service. Their dedicated teachers also gear subjects and curriculum appropriately towards the needs and issues of their classes.

Adult Education

Adults gather for study and discussion of our faith. We generally hold two classes for adults during our 9:30am hour:

Faith in the World

In the Chapel

Sean will gather with adults to discuss FBC in 2012.

Nurturing our Faith Bible Study

Downstairs in the Everts Room

The second is a Bible study of the Gospel of Matthew using the book, Matthew for Everyone by NT Wright (books available at the class) that will take place downstairs in the Everts Room.

Education: Not Just on Sundays

Education is an important part of our life at First Baptist in Newton throughout the year. We have a weekly children's fellowship after the children's message in the worship service. Twice a month, the youth fellowship (6th grade - 12th grade) meet. There are regular educational opportunities such as: Growing in Faith youth series, small group bible studies, and inter-generational programs. We also hold special classes during the Lenten and Advent seasons. Watch for more information as the year progresses.
