Oswald F. Hedley, MD

Oswald F. Hedley, MD and his wife Charlotte and daughters lived at 34 Highland Ave, Newtonville, just a few doors down from the new Cooper Center.  They were members of the FBCN family. Hedley had enlisted on Dec 8, 1941. Hedley was a medical director of the US Public Health Service.

As WWII ended in Germany, Hedley was sent in March 1945 to a devastated Cologne, Germany to help the Allied Military Government aid the city of 800,000. There was no running water in the bombed-out  city, all public utilities, including electric and telephone had been destroyed. Hedley also found this:

After returning from Cologne, Hedley continued his US Public Health service to the countries of Yemen and Greece in 1948. He died of a heart attack in Washington DC in 1952 at 49. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
