Ruth, Florence, and Marjorie Gould

Marjorie Gould served as a Red Cross assistant in Italy at the end of World War II.

The promotion certificate pictured above was a treasured possession belonging to Ruth Gould which was sent to the FBCN archives by her family. Ruth and her sister Marjorie and parents, Leroy and Florence, were longtime members of FBCN beginning in 1926. They lived at 35 Oxford Rd. in Newton Centre.

Mrs. Gould was a Colby College graduate, a French teacher, a Sunday School teacher, and a Women’s Union President.

Ruth and Marjorie attended Newton High School and both later attended Colby College, Marjorie went overseas as a Red Cross assistant in Italy at the end of World War II.

The church bulletin of April 1946 announced Marjorie's expected return along with that of Dexter Whittinghill, Jr.

Florence Gould died in 1985 in Newton at 98 years of age. She was buried from FBCN on February 5, 1985. She was a faithful member of the church for 59 years.
